Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, parsley, basil, minced garlic, black pepper, lemon juice, chopped onion, and dried oregano. Mix until well combined but do not overwork the meat to keep it tender.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the turkey burgers for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. Serve on whole grain buns or lettuce wraps with your choice of low-potassium toppings like cucumbers or bell peppers.

Notes

Renal Diet Tips: Using fresh herbs instead of salt not only enhances flavor but also keeps sodium levels low. Be sure to choose ground turkey that has no added sodium and avoid high-potassium toppings such as tomatoes and avocados.
These turkey burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the grill or in the oven. For a heart-healthy option, serve with a side of steamed green beans or a mixed salad.
